We have all been inspired by the efforts of our health care providers, especially during these challenging times. To show our support and appreciation, Marta Mitchell Interior Design offered a Bedroom Makeover worth $20,000 for a deserving COVID-19 healthcare worker.
The idea for this giveaway evolved during a staff meeting while discussing press reports of exhausted healthcare workers returning home every day. When the MMID team asked, “WHAT DO WE DO REALLY WELL”, they decided to create an awesome bedroom where weary heroes could rest and recharge.
We were excited to receive over 100 nominations. A panel of judges from the business and healthcare community worked through all the nominations. Each nominee had a compelling and moving story. The decision was difficult with so many deserving and hardworking healthcare workers.

The MMID Team was thrilled to be able to provide this makeover for Linda. We celebrate her and all the worthy Warriors who are making a difference in fighting this pandemic.
The contest concluded recently with the big REVEAL of her bedroom makeover to Linda D., our winner. Linda is an O.R. Technician who was the first person assigned to the COVID-19 Unit at UNC Rockingham Health Care Hospital.
Over several months, the MMID team of Designers had met with Linda to define her dream bedroom. We measured the existing space and created autoCAD drawings and finished Renderings. For the final 2 weeks, Linda moved out of her home, and our subcontractors moved in. We completely gutted the existing space in preparation for the renovation.
Apart from a new bedroom, we were also able to create a dressing room and renovated Linda’s bathroom. New carpet was installed. Walls and ceilings were repaired and painted. All new furniture was installed including lighting, TV’s, cabinets, rugs, bedding, chairs, bed, window treatments, wall paper, and vanities. Linda and her family loved everything.
