Can you believe that Thanksgiving is just around the corner? What are your traditions? Do you host? Most of the time we are so busy trying to cook the turkey and all of the trimmings that we forget about the table-scape.  What a great opportunity to create a beautiful setting for all the hard work you’ve been displaying all day in the kitchen. Your table is like the cherry on top! Below are a few pointers for making your table top as festive and wonderful as the meal itself.

Pick a color scheme. You don’t have to stick with the autumn’s colors (although that’s not a bad place to start either!)  What about metallics,  blues, and even patterns to mix it up.

Use the season’s harvest. Pumpkins, fruits, berries, acorns, wheat, even feathers! These little details will make a big impact and are so festive this time of year.

Candles. Group candles in all different sizes together. You can use cinnamon sticks, berries, or bay leaves to embellish them.

Add some texture. If you do not normally use a tablecloth you might want to consider using one for this occasion. If a entire cloth is too much, then try using a runner of place mats to protect your table. Try using burlap as an earthy alternative to formal table cloth. Or use a modern pattern with color by getting a few yards of fabric.

Personalize it. Use treasured serving ware or special dinner plates that have been passed down as family heirlooms. These conversation starters are not only unique, but will help you keep your focus on family and what all you have to be thankful for.
